Highlights of Payment Systems
    • Wallet users peaked at 26.7 million (2082 Asar) but slipped to 24.4 million in Saun 2082. This reflects post-merger adjustments after IME Digital and Khalti combined into IME Khalti Ltd.
    • Mobile Banking Customers steadily grew to nearly 28 million, highlighting mobile-first banking adoption.
    • PSP Agents surged from just 17,474 (2081 Saun) to 436,699 (2082 Saun) — a 25x jump — driven by NRB’s directive to convert sub-agents into full agents.
    • ATM machines grew only marginally (4,855 5,264), suggesting a plateau in physical banking infrastructure.
    • Debit cards grew slowly (12.2M 13.6M), while Credit cards and Prepaid cards remained small but rising steadily.
