Banks and Financial Institutions in Nepal have announced their interest rates for the month of Falgun. The revised rate is effective from Falgun 1. This month we could not see much changes in interest rates  as many banks have remained silent to the changes and have continued same interest rates as that of Magh 2081.

In this article we shall look into the revised interest rates of National Level Development Banks for the month of Falgun 2081.

Saving Account:

All the Development Bank’s published minimum interest rates of 3% for the Month of Falgun 2081. This is the same rate which was offered for the month of Magh 2081.  

Maximum interest rates on saving account for the month of Falgun 2081 is offered at 5%, published by 5 development banks. Three development banks who offered different rate of interest is Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank who published rate of 4.85%, Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank and  Shangrila Development Bank who both published rate of 4.5% each. Lumbini Bikas Bank and Shangrila Development Bank both increased the rate by 1% as compared to Magh 2081 on higher band of Saving Account.

Call Account:

On National Level Development Bank’s side rate of interest on Call account was published at 1.5% by all the national level development banks for the month of Falgun 2081 which is same as that of Magh 2081.

Individual FD:

Maximum rate on Fixed Deposit for duration less than 1 year is published by Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank of 5.15%. Jyoti Bikas Bank offered lowest interest rate of 3.5% for same duration. Garima Bikas Bank decreased its rate by 1% as compared to Magh i.e. from 5% to 4%.  For FD with duration of 1 year, 3 banks i.e Kamana Sewa, Shangrila and Shine Resunga development bank offered rate of 6% whereas lowest rate was offered by Jyoti Bikas Bank with rate of 4%. For FD more than 1-year duration,  all the national level development bank offered same rate of interest as that of Magh 2081 of 6.5%.

Institutional Fixed Deposit

On Institutional Fixed Deposit for duration less than a year, highest rate of interest was offered by Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank with rate of 4.15%. Jyoti Bikas Bank and Garima Bikas Bank each published rate of 3% for fixed deposit with duration less than 1 year. For Fixed Deposit of 1 year, Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank and Shangrila Development Bank offered rate of 5% each. The banks who revised the interest rates in Falgun as compared to Magh were Garima Bikas Bank and Shine Resunga Development Bank who revised their rate from 5.5% to 3.5% and 5% to 4% respectively for duration of 1 year. For duration more than a year, most of the banks offered highest rate of 5.5% interest. Lowest rate was offered by Shine Resunga Development Bank of 4.5%.
